March 12
Had a raid at 8:45, fired 79 rounds.

March 14
Had raid at 7A.M. 14 Jerry planes came out of the sun.  We knocked down 2 planes.  Fired 21 rds.

March 16
Had a raid at  7:15 A.M. Fired 18 rounds.  Jerry came in with 12 planes.  They say 1 plane came down in smoke.

March 16
Had a raid around 7 A.M. 8 Jerry planes came over & we threw up a few rds. at them.  They saw one come down.
We got our gun back & put it in to the pit, but when we fired a trial shot it wouldn’t go into battery so we did not have to stand alerts.

March 17
The ordinance came down to fix the gun.  The battery had 5 raids this morning.

PAGE 20 Continued

March 17 continued:
Gun fixed and we’re ready for action again.

March 20
Had a raid around 7 A.M. 20 Jerry planes came over & dropped there bombs on the docks.
We fired 3 rds. the 4 guns fired 14 rds. all toll.  Someone wasn’t on the ball.  It made a guy mad to see the Jerries come in and not fire, about 20 rds. per gun at them.  We set a poor example as an A.A. battery this morning.  If the officers, including the captain, would get out of there bunks in the morning, we might do some good firing.
We stunk this morning.

March 21
Had a raid around 10:15 P.M.

March 23
Had raid around 9 P.M. 33 rds. fired Jerry dropped bombs over Field art.
To date we’ve had 221 raids since we’ve been on Anzio Beachhead.
