April 18, continued:
Church.  Had another air raid, Started at 8 P.M. ended at 8:30. Saw plane burning and go down in the sea.  Fired 83 rounds.

April 22.
Started to take pills for Malaria.  Went to communion and had mass at battery.

April 25.
Easter.  Went to church in town.

April 27.
John Melillo & Willie Wisneski, from home town to see me.

April 30
Pay day.  Pulled gun out of barracade  & set it upon beach to fire at water target.  Didn’t fire.  Firing was called off.  Didn’t feel so good today.

May 2.
6 months overseas.  Went to mass at White Fathers parish.

May 6.
Received a letter from Peggy telling me my Mom had a baby girl.

May 9
Had an alert at 11 A.M. fired 2 rounds at a German observation plane.  To high up and lost it in the clouds.  6 rounds fired by battery.

May 12.
Pulled gun out and fired at towed target in the water.  Did some good shooting. Air raid tonight.  Started 8:45 P.M. ended 10 P.M.  Fired 110 rounds. 12+ Jerrie planes they say Ach-Ach. Got 5, R.A.F. got 3.
Little damage.

May 13.
Red Alert at 9:20 P.M. started firing at 9:30.  All clear at 11, P.M. We fired 139 rounds.  20+ planes flew over.  One plane dropped 4 bombs out side battery area on beach, then plane hit the water.  A. A. got credit for 5 planes.  Very little damage done.
