JOSEPH MAURIELLO
BASEBALL
WORLD WAR II
BASEBALL
FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME

Joseph Mauriello was one of those young men who came back after the war and served the city of Hackensack through volunteering. He loved baseball before the war.

Joseph Mauriello was called to service at the beginning of the war and served till the end of the war, fighting in North Africa and Italy.

After the war, Joseph Mauriello came back and continued to be involved with Hackensack baseball for many years. He was my little league coach for Cowans Sports store. His son "Mr. Moe" (Richard Mauriello 1996-2005 Hackensack High School baseball coach) hit a homer to tie and another homer to win the division title game in little league in 1967.

Joseph Mauriello loved baseball and was always there to help the kids. He was a volunteer police officer at many H.H.S. football games etc. and he was so friendly and liked by everyone you would think people would have taken advantage of his good nature, but no one ever did.

Looking back now I see he was a man who had an inner strength which was under control and you knew not to cross that line and you respected him. I guess now after reading of his service we know why. He was as nice a man as you would want to meet.
