MORE LOCAL BOYS ARRIVE IN FRANCE

NOTE: James Jackson is mentioned in the book WAY DOWN SOUTH UP NORTH written by
E. Frederic Morrow copyright 1973, as being the best friend of Eugene Morrow. On page 75 of the book it mentions how James joined the 15th “colored” (as they were known then) Regiment, out of New York. This decision influenced Eugene Morrow into leaving college and joining the service according to the account given by: E. Frederic Morrow.

The News article is reporting on when James Jackson is arriving in France February 7, 1918, but he had joined the service almost a year prior in April of 1917, while he was working at Hackensack Hospital and he was not yet the age to be drafted of 18. The article also mentions that James Jackson attended Broadway School which is now where the youth building is located across the street from Saint Francis church.
