This is a plaque of Nelson Haas the principal of Hackensack High School in 1903. He tutored H. Kent Hewitt in May to pass a test for the chance to take the entrance exam to Annapolis.
H. Kent Hewitt passed the test, and for the next few months
Principal Hass tutored H. Kent Hewitt, who went on to pass the entrance exam. Nelson Haas died two years later never knowing the young man's life he touched would go on to be one of the most decorated Naval Officers in the History of the United States Navy.
