We do not know at the present time if the name Dominick K. Gallitano, which is listed on the Original Wall Unit is the same person as Dominick Gallitano, who does not have the initial K.  But we do know they were both from Hackensack so we added the name without the “K” unto our list at this time.

This is material researched by George Torriello on January 3, 2020:

According to 1940 census, Dominick Gallitano was born on April 19, 1913 and was living on 33 E. Broadway Hackensack. He would have attended and or graduated from Hackensack around 1931.  Ancestry records show he enlisted into the Navy with the Naval Air on June 11, 1935 and was mustered into service on board the USS West Virginia on April 30, 1939 (source US Navy muster rolls 1938-1949). Dominick Gallitano would have been on board the USS West Virginia when it was attacked at Pearl Harbor and served on board after being repaired for the duration of the war.  After 25 years of Naval service he was released on January 3, 1961.  Dominick Gallitano died on November 28, 2000 at the age of 87 while living in Florida where he is buried.
