Entered service March 2, 1944. Trained at Sampson, N.Y. , Newport,  Philadelphia,  San Diego,  San Francisco, and Long Beach. Assigned to U.S.S. Astoria. Served in Atlantic Theatre at Trinidad;  Pacific Theatre at Honolulu,  Eniwetok, Ulithi, Iwo Jima,  Okinawa, Kyushu, Honshu; Philippine Theatre at Leyte and Samar. Ship’s score: 15 aircraft knocked down, 4 shore bombardments. Awards: 3 Ribbons, 4 stars on Asiatic-Pacific, 1 star on Philippines. Date of discharge May 2, 1946.
