The Japanese had attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and then, The Record newspaper on Tuesday February 17, 1942, carried this article on six Hackensack young men living within one block of each other getting ready to leave for Fort Dix, NJ that day.

Dominick Mastrangelo was one of those young men.

There are nine Hackensack young men mentioned in article. Two are already in service and one is an attorney who lived in another area of Hackensack. 

          Dominick  Mastrangelo’s name on the original Wall Unit may have been written as “Domenick Mastrange” for lack of space to write on 3 inches in pen script. I have no way of knowing for sure, so we will add his name correctly spelled to the list.
